Technical Assistance with Our Web Page

Viewing this website: This web page can be viewed at its best in 1024 x 768 resolution, in High Color (16 bit). If your monitor and graphics card support these settings, you will find all your internet exploring more enjoyable. Win95/98 users can change these settings by opening up "control panel" (under "my computer") and choosing "display." A quicker way to get to your display settings is by right-clicking anywhere on your desktop and choosing "properties." Click on the "settings" tab near the top of the window. You will find a choice of "color palette" on the left and a slide called "desktop area" on the right. You can change these settings back and forth.

Win98 users will find a choice of not rebooting each time you change your display settings. Look under the "settings" tab mentioned above and click on "advanced." This makes it easier to switch to 256K color for games that still insist on that mode.

No background? One solution might be that your browser is not enabled for stylesheets. In Netscape, under Edit, Preferences, go to "advanced" and be sure the box for allowing stylesheets is checked. This appears to be automatic in Internet Explorer.

Updating your browser: Occasionally check to see if there are any updates to the browser you are using. (A browser is the program you are running to view the World Wide Web. This is usually Netscape or Internet Explorer.) My favorite place to get updated browsers is Browsers.com, a section of the CNET web site. If you are using the AOL browser, this is built on an older version of Internet Explorer and may not behave properly on some of these pages.

Fonts for this web site: Some fonts are chosen for better readability. Microsoft offers several free fonts for both Windows and Mac. Some of these have been used on this web site. You may download these fonts for your own system. Microsoft's Free New Fonts

Printing: To print, click on the print button at the top of your browser or choose print from the menu under "File".

Another tip for printing: check out your page setup under the "file" menu in your browser. You may find you have an option of choosing black print. This makes pages easier to read when you print a page that has color text. Also, there will be an option to not print backgrounds. This saves you time and ink. If you are printing blank pages choosing black print may solve the problem. You might be trying to print white text on white paper!

You may also have options to turn on or off the page numbering, dating, etc. If you are printing a form, such as the Elite Status, you may want to turn these off.

Check back to this page. I will be adding more information for you as I find more topics that are needed. Please don't hesitate to email me at ceal@wutka.com with your requests of items to place here or questions you have about the internet or your computer. I remember what it is like to be an internet newbie and am still learning new tricks myself.
